Steel Sculptures
Corten steel is popularly used in outdoor sculpture and public art installations for its organic appearance. We are proud to source Australian made Corten steel and to promote our in-house design and fabrication based in Melbourne to ensure quality of materials, workmanship and finishing.
When rusted, Corten weathering steel develops a rich deep brown-red oxide surface through the use of alloy additions. The added alloys encourage a very dense layer to develop on the exposed surfaces, enough to protect the underlying metal structure from corroding. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather. Thus Corten sculptures need not to be treated in any way prior to installation for longevity.
Our stainless steel sculptures offer a sleek modern aesthetic with high ware and durability. Perfect for commercial and public art installations. Stainless steel is one of the world's most durable and strong materials with excellent corrosion resistance. All of our stainless steel sculptures are marine grade 304 with a # 4 satin brush finish. In a coastal environment we would use 316 electropolished materials at an additional cost.
